Same meaning, different text
One explanation is held as one meaning that bundles a text for each language. The Japanese and English texts say the same thing; they are not word-for-word translations of each other.
Japanese may build up from the background while English leads with the conclusion — the structure can follow the reader.
Three language settings
Language has three settings that must not be mixed up:
- Screen language — the language of the console. Each user picks their own.
- Content language — the language of the text you are editing.
- Site language — the languages the public site is published in. Decided per brand.
Editing a Japanese article from an English console is entirely normal.
The brand decides which languages to publish
The public site's URLs and the language information given to search engines follow the brand's language settings. Some brands publish only in Japanese; others publish in both Japanese and English.
Dates follow the reader
Dates are never typed out in a fixed format; only the moment itself is stored. It is formatted at display time — in Japanese order on Japanese pages and English order on English pages.
