Page Designer
The Page Designer is where you put a Website page together while seeing how it really looks. Pick a part on the left, check it in the preview in the middle, and change its look and text in the "Page editor" on the right.
Documentation28 pages
Contents6 chapters
Opening it, and who can edit
Open it from "Page Designer" in the Website menu. It opens on the site's home page; choose other pages on the "Structure" tab on the left.
Admins and Owners can edit. Everyone else sees "View only (editing requires admin)." and can look but not change anything.
The toolbar at the top
- Refresh — fetches this page's data again and reloads the preview.
- Open in runtime — opens this page in a new tab, rendered for real.
- Import JSON — loads a JSON file you exported and shows the differences from this page for review before applying them.
- Search objects… — filters the lists on the left.
- Validate — checks the page's completeness in six stages (brief, chapter text, SEO, publish state and so on).
- Language switch — appears only when the site has more than one language.
- Publish / Unpublish — switches whether the page is published.
Left: Structure, Layers, Assets
The left pane has three tabs.
- Structure — the things that have a hierarchy inside them: the site's pages, navigation, the theme's layouts and so on. Selecting a page opens it; selecting a navigation group lists its links under "Layers".
- Layers — the contents of the open page as a tree: sections, then the elements inside them. Add, reorder and delete sections here.
- Assets — the parts the theme provides, such as "Sections" and "Styles". Under "Styles" you change the site-wide colors and type settings.
You can widen the left pane by dragging its right edge.
Center: the preview
The middle shows the page as it really looks. Click a section in the preview to select it.
The strip above shows where the selected part sits, plus these buttons:
- Mobile / Tablet / Desktop — switch the screen width to check the layout (390px for mobile, 768px for tablet).
- Reload preview
- AI audit — asks the AI to check the structure, the meaning links and SEO. The AI chat opens on the right with the audit request already in the input box.
- Export this page — "Export JSON" or "Export Markdown".
If the section you selected is not drawn on this page, the reason is shown above the preview.
Right: the Page Editor (Appearance, Meaning, Links)
When you open the Page Designer, the "Page editor" opens on the right. If you already have the AI chat or something else open, that stays; switch with "Editor" in the bar at the right edge. The tabs at the top switch what it shows.
- Appearance — with the whole page selected: the page settings such as template, layout and publish state (the theme is set for the whole site). With a section or element selected: how it looks — direction, width, spacing, alignment and so on.
- Meaning — with the whole page selected: the SEO settings. With a section selected: its text, per language. If the page was built from a brief, the brief is shown here too.
- Links — links going out of this page, links coming in, and links the AI has proposed, which you approve or reject. Only approved links appear on the published page. When some are waiting, the tab shows how many.
Select the footer's legal block (the copyright line and legal links) to edit it here; it is shared by every page of the brand. The logos in the header and footer are read-only here; change them in Marketing's brand assets.
Text and look are edited separately
In the Page Designer, text (meaning) and look (appearance) are edited separately.
- Changing the look never changes the text. The theme's colors and type settings are changed under "Styles" on the "Assets" tab and apply to the whole site.
- When you edit text on the "Meaning" tab and press "Save", and that text is tied to your company knowledge, the knowledge itself is updated — so other pages that use the same knowledge show the new text too.
- After editing text, use "Compose (reconcile)" when needed to bring the search data and link status back in line.
- Text that comes from a product cannot be edited here; edit it on the product's screen in Commerce.
In a section made of cards, "Judge card meaning with AI" has the AI decide, card by card, whether the text must not contradict the product or other pages ("Shared meaning") or is wording that belongs to this page alone ("Page text"). The reason is recorded, and a person can change the decision with "Change".
